"Spending hours surrounded by nature from an early age, a connection with the natural world has stayed with me throughout my life. Discovering photography at Art College, it soon became the medium that helped express my fascination with all things that grow. I am usually attracted to details, things that are often overlooked, and irregularities I find intriguing. I hope that the viewer will see familiar things in a new way when they look at my photographs. Hand printing my own work is essential to me, to ensure the colours are accurate, and things appear as they did when I was taking the picture. With an original photographic print there is a certain quality, subtle colours and softness of grain that digital prints cannot offer and a traditional photograph will last at least 75years!!"

After studying art and photography at Bournville College of Art from '89 - '93, Jo went on to graduate from Staffordshire University in '96 with a BA(hons)Design:Photography. Assisting commercial photographers and exhibiting her own work until '98, when she took a job at Kodak Professional for a year as a customer care rep. Still exhibiting her own work during this time she was driven to go solo, and started life as a photographer and returning to lecturing in '99.

Jo specialises in photographs of the natural world. On countless occasions her images have been mistaken for paintings due to the painterly qualities of her photographic style. All images are generated on colour negative film and Jo hand prints all of her own images in the darkroom, both B&W and Colour. Her hand printed photographs are on sale in Galleries and at the Crieff Market & Craft Fairs, she also exhibits around the country see events and exhibitions below for more details.
